Donation Yoga Class - Saturday, March 12th at The Yoga Shala in Winter Park, Florida

Every Saturday from 11:00-12:00pm, The Yoga Shala in Winter Park hold a donation only yoga class.

100% of proceeds benefit a non-profit organization in need. On Saturday, March 12th our Donation yoga class will focus on Odanadi, and Yoga Stops Traffick - a non-profit organization in India focused on helping to stop human trafficking in India.

YOGA STOPS TRAFFICK is a global yoga event being held on March 12th 2011 in more than 80 locations around the world, to raise awareness about human trafficking and show support to its millions of victims. All proceeds will be donated to Mysore anti-trafficking organization, Odanadi Seva Trust.

ONE DAY, ONE VOICE is our ethos. Last year’s founding event was led by a group of young Odanadi residents from the entrance gates of the iconic Mysore Palace – many of whom are survivors of slavery, domestic abuse and forced prostitution. Through the common language of yoga, 1,500 people around the world rolled out their mats in homes, beaches and mountaintops on the same day, in support of Odanadi’s work. And so from the home of Ashtanga Yoga, a worldwide event was born.

ASHTANGA YOGA is of huge significance to the young people of Odanadi. As part of their groundbreaking rehabilitation program, it has allowed them to reclaim their bodies: build physical and mental strength, and restore a sense of peace, confidence and self-worth.

UNITED AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKINGBy standing alongside Odanadi on March 12th, you will be demonstrating your solidarity and support for them, as well as sending a message of defiance against the serious, rapidly escalating exploitation of women and children in India – and around the world.

This unique event has already generated enormous international support, with YST events taking place in London, New York, Miami, Orlando, Washington, Rome, Barcelona, Sydney, Osaka, Bangkok, Vancouver and Sao Paulo – to name a few!

Odanadi co-founders Stanly K.V. and Parashuram M.L. say that, “when human relationships begin, cooperation and coordination begins”. Stanly says: “Yoga Stops Traffick is paving the way for the creation of new relationships across the globe. By promoting our mission at an international level we will be able to do more than we ever thought possible."

Parashuram adds: "We may not share the same culture, language or grass roots problems, but Yoga Stops Traffick shows that human suffering transcends these differences. Humanity is our common ground and the more people learn about our work, the more things will change."

There is a SUGGESTED donation amount of $20.00. Please call Krista 407.506.4626 to register and save your spot! Krista Shirley will be donating her time teaching this led Ashtanga class to benefit this wonderful organization.

11:30-1:30 PM Workshop/Lecture: Sex - A Deeper Perspective
Sex is certainly one of the most essential of human activities. Sexual activity, whether with others or by ourselves and the thoughts that accompany our feelings about sex dominate much of our time. Yet, for the most part, we are confused and befuddled by this area of life, perhaps more than any other. Many people have experienced some form of trauma in this area of their lives and very few people have the courage to talk openly about this area of life. In this session, we will begin with a yogic perspective on sex and begin to explore just what sex is and how we can begin to understand it in a way that it actually becomes an empowering part of life and not one that only causes us frustration and trouble.

Making Magic And Real Love Through Family And Community
There are few other places in life where we express our highest aspirations and deepest fears than in the way that move within our families and communities. More emotionally and spiritually evolved people almost always express themselves through building and facilitating strong, honest and loving families and communities around themselves. In this session, we will explore some of the elements that can help us to reflect ourselves more clearly through our relationships with our families and communities. United we rise, divided, we fall. Let us all begin the process of being agents of unification and empowerment. By transforming your relationships with your family and community, you transform your relationship to yourself and to God above.

Unlocking The Secrets Of The Mind
Our understanding and awareness of, or lack thereof, our own minds holds the power to radically affect the quality of our lives. During this session, we will talk at length about this mysterious part of ourselves, including questions such as "What is the mind?", "Where exactly is the mind located", "How does the mind work?", "How can I improve the quality of my mind?" and other relevant topics related to the mind. Perhaps one of the biggest first steps to a much deeper and more powerful yoga practice and life is to begin to understand the mind. This session will be a first step to move your understanding in the right direction.

The True Role Of The Guru Or Teacher
In this modern age of yoga practice, the role of the teacher or Guru is often misunderstood or under appreciated. Yet, in traditional yoga practice in India, the role of the teacher or Guru is given the greatest importance. In this session, we will delve into why the role of the teacher or Guru is given such great importance.
